Rubber mulch is a versatile product that is used across a wide variety of applications. Whether it's a standard application or something new, we can help you determine the best rubber mulch solution for your project. Below are some of the more typical applications that we work with.
Playground
Rubber mulch makes for excellent playground surfacing especially when compared to other options. It offers unparalleled safety with a fall height of 17' for a 6" depth spread. It's certified by playground equipment manufacturing associations, complies with ASTM standards, and is a proven choice for playgrounds here in the US and worldwide. Not only is the fall height protection superb but its loose fill form factor helps prevent injury. How? The rubber in the rubber mulch absorbs the energy of impact but because it is a loose fill surface it is great at dispersing the energy too. So when there is a fall, the landing is softened helping to reduce critical injury. When children feel safe on the playground they can play in a care-free unrestrained manner boosting their imagination and development. Rubber mulch is also cost effective, especially when compared to wood mulch. Wood mulch requires re-application which costs time and money. Rubber mulch is long lasting, durable, and can withstand commercial traffic and weather extremes. Its loose fill property also eliminates the issues that large format surfaces encounter such as cracking, warping, mold, and fraying thus protecting your investment over the long run. Maintenance requirements for rubber mulch are minimum to none when properly installed. Removing leaves and twigs can be accomplished with a rake or blower just like on any other surface. Best of all, kids truly love playing on it! It has a unique sensory experience and bouncy feel that is wheelchair accessible and easy to run on. We work with playgrounds of all types such as school, church, daycare, public, private, and more.

Landscape
Rubber mulch is a great replacement for wood mulch in both large scale residential and commercial applications. It eliminates the need to re-mulch, reduces pest and weed infestations, promotes healthy plants, and simply looks great. When you invest in rubber mulch you can realize a rapid return on investment in as little as 1.5 to 2 years. And since rubber mulch can last 12+ years, you continue to save year after year. As a result your organization can reallocate valuable resources towards other projects. Furthermore, rubber mulch is not a hospitable surface for weeds, harmful insects, and other pests. Leveraging rubber mulch helps reduce or eliminate completely the amount of chemicals needed to treat these problems. As a result your plants are also happier because less weeds means less competition for soil water and less destructive insects means healthier plants. Unlike wood mulch, rubber mulch doesn't freeze so it makes for a great ground cover in colder climates protecting root systems below. Wood mulch is known to generate significant heat in warmer climates which can likewise over heat root systems below. Rubber mulch applications in warmer climates will not overheat root systems. Rubber mulch additionally helps solve common human errors which are costly to your landscaping. Because wood mulch is applied and re-applied frequently by inexperienced crews, its prone to issues. Over-mulching by even an inch and placing too much mulch around the crown of a plant can quickly suffocate, weaken, or cause above surface root systems to grow. A single carefully controlled application of rubber mulch eliminates the aforementioned issues once and for all. When it comes to landscaping, aesthetics is a main factor when considering materials. Rubber mulch delivers a natural look with an organic texture that blends in to any environment. It maintains a clean, fresh, and vibrant appearance year round. We work with landscapers, landscape architects, contractors, construction companies, owners, property managers, and more to deliver rubber mulch solutions.

Sport
Rubber mulch is used as ground cover in a variety of applications related to sports. For example it is used for rock climbing, bouldering, obstacle courses, ninja gyms, and more. It is great for both indoor and outdoor applications. It's particularly well suited for outdoor use because it's extremely durable and handles moisture very well. When used indoors it can transform your space from dull and sterile to unique and exciting as it offers a warm organic texture that is also functional. Of course it provides excellent safety characteristics such as a 17' fall height for 6" of depth. Not only does the rubber absorb impact energy, it also disperses it on impact because it's loose fill. The loose fill property disperses the impact energy in a multi-directional manner which ultimately softens falls and reduces risk for critical injury. And even though it is loose-fill it is both easy to walk and run on and stable to land on when dismounting from obstacles and features. We work with gyms, sporting facilities, retailers, and more to provide safe and effective rubber mulch solutions.

Military Training
Rubber mulch is a perfect ground cover solution for military, police and other combat training facilities. The preferred type of rubber mulch to use these applications is uncoated or natural because its economical and has the same safety and durability characteristics as coated rubber mulch. Coated rubber mulch can be used as well but it comes at a premium for its aesthetic characteristic. Rubber mulch emulates natural ground cover for training. Its loose-fill nature is similar to natural pact loose-fill ground cover such as gravel and dirt. When walking and running on it, there is also comparable drag underfoot. Its value is realized in the supplemental cushioning it provides to protect against falls and other impacts. It doesn't absorb water and won't pool if placed over a properly graded sub-surface. This enabled extended technical and precise training even in inclement weather. Rubber mulch is also commonly used for military obstacle courses due to its great fall height properties, durability, and appropriateness for outdoor applications. Another application we see is the use of rubber mulch to park military vehicles on. It is mixed with or replaces gravel because gravel will pulverize and need to be replaced while rubber mulch will break down much more slowly in these use cases. We work with military, police and procurement agencies to deliver bulk quantities of rubber mulch directly on base.
Equestrian
Rubber mulch is used as a footing for both indoor and outdoor equestrian arenas. It is typically mixed with sand at different ratios depending on the type of riding, jumping, or training that is occurring. The rubber mulch protects the horses feet and additionally softens the blow of any rider falls. Rubber mulch, at the right ratio, will ensure the arena footing is neither too pact nor too soft. It has the added advantage of reducing arena dust and enabling riding in colder, freezing conditions. We work with the equestrian community to provide bulk rubber mulch solutions that make riding safer and maintenance easier.
