Park Playground With Rubber Mulch

We work with departments of parks and recreation, departments of planning/development/zoning/engineering, municipalities, and other government institutions to provide rubber mulch solutions.  Typical solutions include ground cover for park playgrounds, park landscaping and city/town landscaping.

Public Playgrounds Rubber Mulch

Rubber mulch is a great solution for park and other public playground applications because it's safe, economical, durable, recycled, and is fun.

  • Playground rubber mulch is certified by playground equipment manufacturer bodies and is ASTM compliant.  It can provide 17' of fall height protection at a 6" depth which is phenomenal considering it's a material made for outdoor use.  Compared to grass, wood mulch, sand, rubber tiles, and other material it provides a far superior fall height rating.  Higher fall height ratings help protect children from critical injury and likewise reduce liability.  Rubber mulch is so effective because its rubber composition absorbs direct impact while its loose-fill properties also displace energy on impact.
  • Rubber mulch is an economical choice due to its rapid return on investment, especially when compared with wood mulch surfacing for playgrounds, and long depreciation timeline.  It maintains maximum longevity as it is not susceptible to many of the issues of other surfaces such as decomposition, erosion, warping, mold, etc.   Once applied, rubber mulch requires little-to-no maintenance saving precious time and resources.  Any leaves or twigs on the rubber much can be easily raked off or dispersed with a leaf blower.
  • The durability of rubber mulch is second to none and is able to withstand inclement weather extremes along with high traffic usage.  It is derived from tire rubber which is vulcanized making it super strong.  Its loose fill composition extends its life over solid larger format products that are susceptible to cracking, warping, fraying, and other issues.
  • Rubber mulch is made from 100% recycled vehicle tire.  It is recommended by the EPA because it removes tire waste from filling up landfills.  Creating a play area of safe, recycled material gives back to the community and helps protect the environment.
  • Last, why have a playground if it isn't fun?  The surfacing you select is just as important as the equipment itself and the wrong choice can lead to restrained play while the right choice will provide unbridled, imaginative, fun play.  Kids love the feel of rubber mulch.  They love running and jumping on it.  When kids don't have to worry about getting hurt from playing with friends or falling, it instills confidence and creates a care-free atmosphere.

Municipal Landscaping Rubber Mulch

Rubber Mulch is also widely used for landscape cover in both small and large scale applications.  It is an excellent alternative to both wood mulch and gravel.  More and more institutions are recognizing the benefit of investing in rubber mulch because of its benefits.

  • Rubber mulch saves money because you do not need to re-apply annually or bi-annually as required with wood mulch.  This saves on the labor, shipping, and product costs every time wood mulch is applied.
  • It also saves time because there is little to maintenance required with rubber mulch.  Apart from eliminating re-application, rubber mulch helps reduce weeds, insects, and other pests which in turn reduces maintenance demands.  Your resources, both monetary and physical, can now be allocated to other projects.
  • Rubber mulch assists in maintaining healthy, thriving plant life. It helps maintain healthy soil temperatures; it won't freeze in cold climates or get too warm in hot climates.  It enables healthy moisture levels as it permits water to drain through and not off of the soil to plant roots.  Rubber mulch is not a good host for weeds and other destructive pests.  Rubber mulch, when applied correctly, eliminates the common problem of over-mulching with wood mulch which can be fatal for plants.  Over mulching is a highly variable, human error hard that is hard to control and is exacerbated by crews that spread too much wood mulch on new applications, pile up too much new mulch on existing mulch piles, suffocate the crown of plants, and more.
  • Rubber mulch is also popular because it looks great.  When integrated with your natural landscaping it blends in and has an organic texture.  However, at the same time it delivers a clean and professional aesthetic in more manicured areas.  While wood mulch quickly loses its color, decomposes, and often can look messy, rubber mulch maintains a fresh and vibrant look year round.
